Cheers to the 4-Leaf Clover

It’s National 4-H Week, celebrated every year the first week of October.  4-H is that organization for me . . . the one that at the time I wasn’t thrilled about joining but hindsight being 20/20 and all.  Without 4-H (and FFA) I wouldn’t be writing, speaking, sharing . . . farming.  At the time I didn’t know I was learning skills that would serve me for the rest of my life.  Now I know. 

Farm Boy to Cow Boy

My farm boy is finally old enough to join 4-H.  As in 8 years old by September 1.  As in sit up to the conference table in the conference room at our club’s meeting place, follow an agenda, recite the pledges and make a motion.  It is a happy day in our home.
